Millets belong to the Poaceae family. It also has different names Pnnisetum Glaucum, Pearl millet, Bulrush millet, Babala, Bajra, Cumbu, Dukhn, Gero, Sajje, Sanio, Souna. Millets are typically annuals and range in height from 30-30 cm, which has stalks 1.5 m -3 m tall and about 2.5 cm thick.
The inflorescences may be spikes or racemes, in which the flowers are borne on stalks of about equal length along an elongated axis or panicles with dense clusters of small florets. With the exclusion of pearl millet, seeds remain enclosed in hulls after threshing. Hulled seeds are usually creamy white.
